Alberta Moose Hunting Guide

Alberta is home to the Canadian Moose, one of the most beautiful and mysterious animals on planet Earth. Far grander than the Shiras Moose but smaller than the Alaska-Yukon Moose, the Alberta ranges from 800-1400 lbs and is a beloved trophy of hunters, new and old.
The Alberta Moose can be found from clear-cut, verdant forest blocks to copses of new vegetation near river beds and all the landscape in between. During their rut, bull moose are in search of cows to mate with, which makes them more likely to answer our calls. This is easily one of the most exciting and memorable hunts you will ever experience. While the possibility of seeing a mature Alberta Moose is likely, the hunt is never guaranteed. Weather conditions, intensity of the rut, and location are major factors in their movements.
Hunting For The Alberta Moose
What does a typical day of hunting the Alberta Moose look like? Hunters will wake up well before daylight, scarfing down breakfast and heading to our favorite hunting spots before daybreak. Expect to travel with your guide on their ATV while stopping at various locations to call. Some hunters prefer to paddle down the river, hoping to see the head of a Bull peeking around the bend.
River conditions can change yearly—if the river is too low, you’re less likely to use a boat, but you can cover more ground in a shorter time when in the saddle of an ATV. Everyone will head back to camp for lunch and a rest before beginning the more strenuous evening hunt. We recommend a designated camp cook to pack lunches and prep the meal, which will allow hunters to stay out all day with minimal rest and recuperation. At the end of each day’s hunt, it’s important to return to camp and have a hot dinner before hitting the sack and starting again at sunrise.
Where To Hunt The Alberta Moose
Urge2Hunt has a special relationship with Alberta. This beautiful, verdant landscape feels three steps from Eden, and is ripe with animals of all kinds. From elk to whitetail deer, guided hunts in Alberta are memorable trips that last a lifetime. We include the outfitter tag in the price, and our later-in-the-year seasonal dates allow plenty of time for hunters to reserve their trips.
Our hunts in Northern Alberta are on private land near the Peace River, and you’re expected to see at least one moose during this majestic trip. We include your guide, meals, lodging, hunting license, and tag—you only need to worry about your flight to Alberta. Plus, you can add other species to your trips—if the Alberta Moose isn’t enough, add whitetail, black bear, and wolf to your trip.
Deep in moose-hunting territory, we set up near the British Columbia border deep in the Canadian territories. The home of the Alberta Moose features sizable swamps, sweeping muskegs, winding river systems, and some of the windiest landscapes in all of Alberta. This area’s diverse biome makes it a physically demanding but memorable hunt, where we move through clear-cut forest blocks, large ponds, and trails to find tree rubs and wallows that indicate the proximity of rutting Alberta Bulls.
